DISCOVERER TALENT THEME – STRENGTHSEXPLORER

You can help your child discover their talent themes with the online Clifton Youth StrengthsExplorer. In the Clifton Youth StrengthsExplorer, there are in total 10 emerging talent themes. Today, we cover the talent theme of DISCOVERER.

Children with the DISCOVERER talent theme loves spending time thinking and learning new things.  They are open, curious and constantly seek to understand the hows and the whys in things. They are like a sponge in the areas of their interests.  They absorb, collect and archive information, ideas and experiences. They are naturally adept in connecting ideas and information and making sense out of them.

When they find something that they like or are good in, they can spend a lot of time in knowing and exploring more about it.  However, this does not mean they like to do the same things all the time. They can be easily bored once they are done with “knowing everything” they know about a certain matter.

They are constantly questioning, probing and exploring.  Discoverers are a great source to bounce ideas with and these children love sparring with others on the possibilities of things.

How Do Children With Discoverer Themes Look Like?

Does any of the following words describe your child that has the DISCOVERER talent theme: –

  • Learner

3 Things Parents Can Do To Help Their Children With The DISCOVERER Talent Theme

Here are 3 things that you can do: –

  1. Learn from your child the things that he/she is interested in.  He/She revels in the opportunity to be able to share and teach you on what they know, are learning or researching on.  By taking on the role of a learner, you help your child be the teacher. They will love it!
  2. Find out what is it that they like or are learning.  Help your child have deeper learning by creating various ways of learning –  experimenting, exploring, visualizing, communicating, constructing, etc.
  3. Engage your child in active communication. Ask him/her great questions in the hows and whys and challenge them. They do not need to know all the answers but they certainly need the challenge of needing and wanting to find out more than what they already know.

Experiment, Cherish And Enjoy

So there!  I hope the tips above would have been useful in helping your child.

The idea for you as a parent or educator is to create the environment of “flourishment” for your children.

Knowing the talent theme of your children gives you the clues to how you can flourish them by helping them recognize their talent themes and using them every day. Use this activity book to quickly and simply kick things into motion. Experiment with different approaches and scenarios and enjoy seeing your child come alive through their talent themes.

Remember: Every child is different and even if they have the same themes, their responses can be distinctly different in the same scenario.

Enjoy the time spent with your child in discovering and learning about their talents and strengths. Take it slow and enjoy the process.

If you want your child to be great in life, help them to know and resonate with the greatness of their unique talents that are already in them. Trust me. It is worth it!
