You can help your child discover their talent themes with the online Clifton Youth StrengthsExplorer. In the Clifton Youth StrengthsExplorer, there are in total 10 emerging talent themes. Today, we cover the talent theme of RELATING.
Children with the RELATING talent theme love doing things with their friends. They are particularly good at having long lasting relationships with a small group of friends. And nothing is more fun than to be able to do things with each other, having sleepover parties or just spending time together.
They are usually friendly, happy and approachable. They inspire trust from others and generally, other children simply love to be around them. Although they may not extend their friendships to everyone, they are generally open, accepting and inclusive. And for those that they are friends with, they are good at forming deep and caring relationships.
They may constantly talk about their friends and the opportunity to do just what motivates them greatly. For them, relationships are extremely important.

3 Things Parents Can Do To Help Their Children With The RELATING Talent Theme
Here are 3 things that you can do: –
- Include your child’s friends to be a part of your child’s activities. For example, studying, playing, or group outings. Having people they love around them makes them enjoy what they are doing more and in the process, helps them accomplish better.
- Talk to your child about his/her friends. They literally see their world through their relationships. Hence asking about their friends and talking about them is a really good way to connect. At the same time, it creates the environment for you and your RELATING child to bond even deeper.
- Play the game of name your friend in class and in school. See how many names he/she can remember, what was something they noticed about them today, what is their favorite food during recess and who is friends with whom, etc.
Experiment, Cherish And Enjoy
So there! I hope the tips above would have been useful in helping your child.
The idea for you as a parent or educator is to create the environment of “flourishment” for your children.
Knowing the talent theme of your children gives you the clues to how you can flourish them by helping them recognize their talent themes and using them every day. Use this activity book to quickly and simply kick things into motion. Experiment with different approaches and scenarios and enjoy seeing your child come alive through their talent themes.
Remember: Every child is different and even if they have the same themes, their responses can be distinctly different in the same scenario.
Enjoy the time spent with your child in discovering and learning about their talents and strengths. Take it slow and enjoy the process.
If you want your child to be great in life, help them to know and resonate with the greatness of their unique talents that are already in them. Trust me. It is worth it!
