You can help your child discover their talent themes with the online Clifton Youth StrengthsExplorer. In the Clifton Youth StrengthsExplorer, there are in total 10 emerging talent themes. Today, we cover the talent theme of PRESENCE.
Children with the PRESENCE talent theme love an audience. They love taking the lead, telling stories and enjoy the attention they are able to command from people. They may be serious or humorous in their communication. They don’t shy away from strangers but instead look upon them as people to win over or be friends with.
It is very natural for them to have the ability of expressing themselves better than most other children. Because of this, they are often looked upon to be the spokesperson for the group or are looked up to as leaders.
They have a natural sense of confidence when they stand before people. It makes them come alive, reach out and naturally want to influence others with their stories, messages or ideas.

3 Things Parents Can Do To Help Their Children With The PRESENCE Talent Theme
Here are 3 things that you can do: –
- Your child loves an audience. So be their audience! Applaud them. Cheer them on. Laugh at their jokes (if they are funny of course!). Encourage them. Being their audience will sharpen their ability to think better and communicate better.
- Help them find role models who are great communicators. Help them learn how these role models communicate, learn how they do certain things particularly well. Help your child practice these things and in the process, create his or her own unique style.
- Help your child look out for activities in school that would foster and energize his or her PRESENCE theme. Look out for activities that will put them in front of an audience and help them be a part of it. And be your child’s best friend in this. Affirm them and share with them what they did that went well, point out to them how they can be even better and tell them how you have benefited from their performances.
Experiment, Cherish And Enjoy
So there! I hope the tips above would have been useful in helping your child.
The idea for you as a parent or educator is to create the environment of “flourishment” for your children.
Knowing the talent theme of your children gives you the clues to how you can flourish them by helping them recognize their talent themes and using them every day. Use this activity book to quickly and simply kick things into motion. Experiment with different approaches and scenarios and enjoy seeing your child come alive through their talent themes.
Remember: Every child is different and even if they have the same themes, their responses can be distinctly different in the same scenario.
Enjoy the time spent with your child in discovering and learning about their talents and strengths. Take it slow and enjoy the process.
If you want your child to be great in life, help them to know and resonate with the greatness of their unique talents that are already in them. Trust me. It is worth it!
